One of the weapons that disappeared from the 6th Battalion of the Military Police of the Interior, in the Gonzaga neighborhood, in Santos, was found in the house of a female police officer whose identity was not revealed. The weapons disappeared last Sunday (5).
The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) released the information this Wednesday (8).
According to the ministry, efforts are underway to find the rest of the stolen material and to clarify the facts.
The stolen material included around 200 rounds of ammunition, several magazines and other personal protection accessories, which were stored in one of the cabinets installed in a room.
The headquarters of the 6th BPM was one of the places that sheltered PMs coming from the capital and the interior of São Paulo during Operation Shield — carried out between July and September 2023, which resulted in the death of 28 people during supposed clashes — and Operation Summer, between February and April 2024, which ended with 56 deaths.
The operations took place after the deaths of Rota soldiers Patrick Bastos Reis, who was 30 years old, in July, while patrolling on the outskirts of Guarujá, also in Baixada Santista, and of Samuel Wesley Cosmo, 35, killed while patrolling in a favela in the neighborhood Bom Retiro, in Santos. Cosmo was taken to Santa Casa de Santos, but died at the scene.
