Weekly jobless claims rise to 207,000 in the last week of the year, their worst result since Black Friday

The Weekly claims for unemployment benefits in the United States have increased by 7,000 in the week of December 31, standing at 207,000 compared to 200,000 the previous week (figure revised up from 198,000). The result worsens by 10,000 the estimated 197,000 and registers the highest number of requests since the week of November 26, the date of Black Friday.

Continued unemployment claims increased by 36,000 to 1,754,000 from 1,718,000 (revised up from 1,1716,000), notably worsening the estimated 1,688,000.

On the other hand, the United States has published its figures of trade balance, which has widened its deficit in November to -80.2B of dollars from -67.2B in October (revised from -67.1B). The result worsens the -77.1B deficit estimated by the market.

The trade balance of goods has dropped to -99B dollars from -97.8B the previous month.
