The number of new cases of Covid-19 in Brazil in seven days fell for the seventh week in a row, according to data released this Saturday (3) by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass).
In the period that started on August 28 and ended this Saturday, 86,572 new infections were registered with the coronavirus, which represents a drop of 14.7% compared to the previous week, when the country accounted for 101,510 cases.
The weekly number of cases has been falling since the period between July 10 and 16. At the time, the total number of infections throughout Brazil was 415,765. In comparison with the last seven days, the drop was 79.2%.
In addition to infections, the number of deaths linked to Covid-19 fell for the third week in a row. In the last seven days, 882 people died as a result of the disease, a reduction of 9.1% compared to the previous period (970 deaths).
The weekly peak of deaths in Brazil in one week occurred between April 4 and 10, 2021. At the time, 21,141 deaths were recorded. Regarding the number of cases, the peak was from January 23 to 29 this year, when 1,305,447 infections were recorded.
In the last 24 hours, 11,722 cases and 92 deaths were reported throughout Brazil. In addition to the Federal District, seven states did not send updated data: Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Roraima and Tocantins.
The seven-day moving average of new cases in the country stands at 12,367, while the floating indicator of deaths reached 126.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, Brazil has added 34,467,867 cases and 684,354 deaths related to Covid-19.
