The Consumer Price Index — Weekly (IPC-S) cooled to 0.83% in the first quadrissemana of May, after 1.08% at the close of April.
The information was released this Monday (9) by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV). The indicator accumulates a high of 10.64% in 12 months, higher than the advance of 10.61% in the previous reading.
Of the eight categories of expenses that make up the indicator, five decelerated from the last four weeks of April to the first of May, especially Housing, which fell from -0.69% to -1.69%.
The item with the greatest influence on the group was the residential electricity tariff, which deepened deflation from 6.78% to 10.78%.
Transport (2.13% to 1.53%), Clothing (1.26% to 1.09%), Miscellaneous Expenses (0.70% to 0.59%) and Communication (-0.02% to -0 .04%) were the other groups to show a decrease in the rate of change.
In these classes, the items with the greatest weight were gasoline (3.19% to 1.94%), women’s shoes (1.53% to 0.12%), bicycle repair (1.80% to 0.39%) and monthly fee for internet (-0.40% to -0.51%).
Education, Reading and Recreation (2.51% to 3.36%), Health and Personal Care (1.14% to 1.29%) and Food (1.58% to 1.59%) advanced compared to the closing Of april.
In these groups, the most influential changes were airfare (14.38% to 17.76%), hygiene and personal care items (0.67% to 1.26%) and sweets and chocolates (-2.95 % to -0.58%).

Residential electricity tariff (-6.78% to -10.78%), residential condominium (-0.89% to -2.22%) and health plan and insurance (-0.50% to -0.50 %) were the items that most contributed to the relief in the IPC-S in the first four weeks of May.
Papaya papaya (-7.28% to -7.58%) and carrots (2.77% to -4.85%) complete the list.
In the other direction, airfare (14.38% to 17.76%), gasoline (3.19% to 1.94%) and ethanol (7.92% to 8.78%) pushed the indicator up, followed by residential rent (2.14% to 1.65%) and potato (14.81% to 16.27%).
