Weg buys remaining stake in artificial intelligence startup Mvisia

The manufacturer of electric motors and industrial paints WEG announced this Thursday (1st) that it bought the remaining slice of the business of the startup Mvisia, specialized in artificial intelligence solutions applied to computer vision for the industry.

The value of the business was not disclosed.

In June 2020, Weg closed an agreement for the acquisition of 51% of the share capital of Mvisia, with the possibility, provided for in the contract, of increasing the participation in the future.

“The acquisition is part of WEG’s strategy to grow its digital business, which, since 2020, has relied on Mvisia’s technology to meet the demand of Industry 4.0 in computer vision applications,” said the company in a statement to the Brazilian Securities Commission (CVM) ) this Thursday.

Mvisia was founded in 2012 at the Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology at the University of São Paulo (USP).
