In an interview for the show Vivalavi, Fabiola Vásquez, Wendy’s mother, confessed that seeing her daughter dressed as a woman was not easy, because she did not understand why she behaved that way. She even admitted that she forcibly cut her hair so she wouldn’t have it long.

At that time, it was very difficult to accept all that was in his person, that he began to dress as a woman. She was strong that day because I felt a very strong emotion inside of me. It was very difficult for us to discover all that.

[…] I cut little pieces [de cabello] because I said, I don’t want him to have it long, I don’t want to, I didn’t accept, I didn’t want to see him, woman. She took my personal things and never saw them anymore, like she took them somewhere else.

It was not easy for Wendy’s father to accept her transition either, he even physically assaulted her, hoping that with this she would change.

Fortunately, they both understood what was going on with Wendy and now they accept, support and feel proud of all that she has accomplished in her life.
