On Friday, he went to a shooting range he was a member of and practiced, a law enforcement official told CNN. The next morning, Crooks bought a five-foot ladder and then went to a gun store, where he bought 50 bullets. He then drove his car to Butler, Pennsylvania for Trump’s campaign rally. He parked the car outside the venue where the former president was to speak, with an improvised explosive device hidden in the trunk, which was connected to a transmitter he was carrying, the official said.
