Dozens of Palestinian protesters were injured Friday in clashes with Israeli troops in two West Bank areas, according to doctors and eyewitnesses.
Palestinian doctors say at least 15 protesters have been injured by plastic bullets and dozens more have suffered respiratory problems as Israeli soldiers fired tear gas near Nablus and Kalkilia.
According to eyewitnesses, clashes broke out between protesters and Israeli soldiers during weekly demonstrations by Palestinians to protest the recent expansion of Jewish settlements and land grabs in the West Bank.
Clashes were reported in the village of Beit Dazan, east of Nablus, where Palestinians hurled stones at Israeli soldiers, who responded with plastic bullets and tear gas to disperse them.
Meanwhile, six other Palestinians were injured by plastic bullets fired by Israeli soldiers during a demonstration in the Kafr Kadum community east of Kalkilia.
The Israeli military has not commented on the allegations.
Israel has annexed the West Bank and East Jerusalem claimed by the Palestinians after the 1967 Six-Day War.
