Western Digital ended the second quarter of its fiscal year 2021 in early January. Recently, the manufacturer published a corresponding report.
The reporting period brought the company $ 3.9 billion in revenue, down 7% on an annualized basis. The report says that in the segment of client devices, revenue increased by 19%, in the segment of client solutions – by 6%, but in the segment of devices and solutions for data centers, it decreased by 46%.

Operating income was $ 158 million, with a quarter-on-quarter net income of $ 62 million. By comparison, in the second quarter of fiscal 2020, operating income was $ 50 million, but then the company suffered a net loss of $ 139 million. A non-GAAP calculation changes the picture. It turns out that operating income for the year increased from 333 to 343 million dollars, and net profit – from 187 to 212 million dollars.
In the current quarter, the manufacturer expects revenue of $ 3.85-4.05 billion.
