Specialists of the analytical company IDC have published a regular report on the sales of printers and MFPs in Western Europe.
According to IDC estimates, 4.39 million devices were sold in the second quarter. This is 18.8% more compared to the same period last year. Growth remained flat in the first quarter, reflecting increased demand for hardcopy devices amid the pandemic. Growth continues for three quarters in a row. It is noteworthy that not only the sales of inkjet devices and entry-level laser devices, mainly used in the home, are growing, but also the sales of A3 format MFPs. These are relatively expensive products, so they made a significant contribution to the overall growth in monetary terms, amounting to 47.1%. In total, printers and MFPs were sold for $ 2.16 billion in the quarter.

In the segment of devices with inkjet printing, sales of consumer models increased by 17.0%, and corporate – by 61.7%. The overall figure was 24.0%. Laser product sales rose 6.7%, with sales of both color and monochrome models growing. Monochrome A4 laser printers remain the largest segment, but the decline is most noticeable here – according to analysts, it has reached 10%.
