This Wednesday (28), Mark Feehily one of four members of the Irish band Westlife announced that he will not be able to follow the tour that will take place in Brazil on the day March 24 with a presentation in São Paulo.
Through his Instagram profile, the artist shared a note, in which he revealed that he had undergone surgery to correct a incisional hernia . According to the post, on medical advice, the artist should stay away from performing until he recovers completely.
“Hello and much love to you all! This is Mark… Most of you are aware that I have been facing some health challenges of late. In fact, it all started 3 and a half years ago, in August 2020, when I had surgery”, wrote Mark at the beginning of his text.
Afterwards, the musician, who has undergone three other surgeries in the past, explained a little about his health problems and how they evolved over time.
Between one show and another, since 2020, Mark Feehily went to the hospital many times to treat intense pain. “Due to a complication of [primeira] surgery, I developed severe 'sepsis,' a potentially fatal infection that would require immediate emergency surgery to correct the problem and basically save my life.”
Years later, still searching for treatment, the artist discovered a new diagnosis . “I developed a very large 'incisional hernia' and was told I needed another surgery to fix it. This would be my fourth major surgery since the beginning of everything, but I had no option,” he said.
“This surgery took place recently and fortunately went according to plan, but now my recovery must become my absolute priority,” he added.
In the note, Feehily still regrets not being able to be with his teammates, but wants everything to turn out better than expected.
“I hope you know and understand that I was meant to be there (I was so excited to be there!) and that I look forward to seeing you again and creating more magical moments together in the future. But for now, I have to make the right decision for my health and well-being, for my family and for myself as a person. Please don’t worry,” he concluded.
