What are the relationships (really) between Camilla and Kate Middleton

What are the relationships (really) between Kate Middleton and the queen Camilla? There has recently been talk of tensions, given the blatant rudeness of the princess to the sovereign: Kate did not bow to Camilla at the coronation of Charles III. Because she “she was angry”, as explained by the British press. The reason? Middleton at the ceremony on May 6 «was able to invite only four members of his family», the queen, on the other hand, gathered ben twenty Parker Bowles, including ex-husband Andrew. An “injustice” that would have sent Kate into a rage at her. And to think that the relations between the two women united by the same fate – one is the wife of the king, the other one day she will become one – had always been described as “excellent” until now.

According to the royal expert Katie Nicholl, Camilla stood by Kate’s side from the beginning of her relationship with Prince William. And it was she, from the beginning, his most trusted adviser, the one who explained how to get used to life as a member of the British royal family. She thinks so too Robert Laceywhich in the book Battle of Brothers he says that Camilla “revealed to Kate the secret to staying at the side of a busy prince”: “Fit your calendar – well, pretty much your entire life – around hers».

The current queen, for her part, owes a lot to the Princess of Wales: if today she is well regarded by the royal family, it is also thanks to William’s wife. She is convinced of it Angela Levinwhich in the book Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall: From Outcast to Future Queen Consortspeaking of Charles’ former lover – once hated by his subjects but also by most of the Windsors – he writes: «Time has contributed to improve Camilla’s relationship with senior royals, including Prince Williamlargely thanks to the Princess of Wales who is a peacemaker». Plus, Levin adds, the two women are linked by common passion for art: «Catherine has a great love for the arts, which William doesn’t particularly share, and often goes to see exhibitions with Carlo and his wife». To unite Kate and Camilla there are also social battles: the Princess of Wales is focused on issues related to childhood, the Queen consort is on the side of women victims of violence. The two royals fight on different fronts in the name of the Crown, but both bring important social causes into the spotlight.

In public, then, the two women always appear in harmony. And it would not be a matter of facade harmony. So thinks the body language expert Darren Stanton: «During the events Kate he frequently touches Camilla as they exchange jokes. And their facial expressions seem to match and mirror each other, which denotes a deep level of trust and bonding. Even their smiles and laughter seem genuine,” Stanton explained some time ago. Yet Kate, at her coronation, refused to bow to the queen. A blatant snub that has gone around the world and that hasn’t remained, at least for the gossip, without consequences: there are in fact those who already speak (Prince Harry weren’t enough) of a new feud in the royal family
