During his presence in Brussels as part of the PES Preparatory Session, Alexis Tsipras had the opportunity to meet the SYRIZA-PS MEP group.
The main topic of the meeting was the political developments, the party’s strategy towards the upcoming elections as well as the contribution of the MEPs in the electoral battle.
Mr. Tsipras asked them, in addition to their duties in Brussels, to join the planning of excursions and events throughout Greece, as well as a greater presence in the media, especially during the election period where they will not have a restriction on appearances as they will not be candidates.
At the two-hour meeting, of course, the conversation did not focus only on domestic political developments but also extended to international and European ones, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The six MEPs of SYRIZA PS informed Mr. Tsipras about their activity within the Eurogroup of the left and their cooperation with the other progressive forces in the European Parliament in a number of areas, such as:
– the revision of the Stability Pact and the European Economic Architecture,
– the defense of the rule of law, the freedom of the media and social rights,
– the refugee and the struggle for a fair Immigration and Asylum Pact,
– the green and digital agenda,
– the promotion of Turkish aggression, the defense of international law and the strengthening of the Common Foreign and Security Policy.
