What did Al. Tsipras with the Pope for a refugee – Prespes

In the meeting he had with Pope Francis at the Vatican embassy in Athens, the president of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance and former prime minister Alexis Tsipras was mentioned in a post on Facebook.

In fact, he focused on what they discussed about the refugee-immigrant, but also about the Prespa Agreement between Greece and Northern Macedonia.

In his post, Mr. Tsipras states:

“I thank Pope Francis today for his outspokenness and for his unwavering defense of human rights and social justice.
I had the opportunity to discuss with him the hypocrisy of EU governments towards the human drama of refugees and migrants, where they talk about human rights while building fences and rejecting any legal migration route.
But also for the widening of inequalities, poverty and social exclusion around the world, for the greed of the developed world for the third world, by refusing to lift the vaccine patent that would allow mass vaccination of hundreds of millions of citizens.
A greed that avenges us today, as with the constant mutations of the virus we find that no one can be safe anywhere if not everyone is safe everywhere.
Finally, I thanked him for his reference to the Prespa Treaty.
“If we could put a little stone in the way of peaceful coexistence and the struggle against nationalism that divides peoples and causes wars and conflicts, we are on the right side of history.”
