What did SYRIZA understand (for the time being) from the beginning of N. Androulakis

By Niki Zorba

Unified assessments and “line” for which KINAL / PASOK candidate they want to prevail in the internal party battle, did not exist in SYRIZA and that we have pointed it out repeatedly for the official opposition, throughout the process after the sudden death of Fofi Gennimata.

There were almost as many “approaches” as there were heads in Koumoundourou with its executives showing even diametrically opposed views. The only one who had an expressed opinion and a strong one in favor of George Papandreou is Nikos Bistis, from the “bridge” of SYRIZA.

Beyond that, the assessments of who would prevail and who would be in the best interest of the official opposition to be at the helm of KINAL were often conflicting and changing. However, the decision of Alexis Tsipras not to close the “eye” publicly in favor of one or another candidate is fully respected.

George Papandreou has a legible “profit” for the main opposition party: He keeps alive at least on a rhetorical level the narrative of “progressive governance” on which SYRIZA relies to give perspective to its attempt to overthrow political correlations. However, there are many who were worried that the prevalence of G. Papandreou would create conditions for the repatriation of voters and executives.

The same does not apply to Nikos Androulakis who is now marching towards the end of the internal party race with a clear victory and “dowry” the “renewal order” received by about 40% of those who came en masse to the KINAL ballot box? Undoubtedly. Androulaki’s candidacy has also been analyzed as the most “complicated” and unpredictable for SYRIZA:

The KINAL MEP has center-left characteristics, young in age, with equal distances between the two major parties and addressing the audience of voters of the former state PASOK, which is also the main electoral pool of SYRIZA.

The predominance of Mr. Androulakis, however, in no way surprised Koumoundourou. They are watching very closely and for a long time the developments as they were forming on the way to the polls of the neighboring party to fall from the clouds with last night’s results.

The polls

Even with the defeat of A. Loverdos, no one in the party was surprised. In the meantime, views had been expressed to the president of SYRIZA, according to which Loverdos’ supremacy would “burn” the narrative of “progressive governance” but at least would “cut” votes from the ND, an important opera for its party. official opposition that will fight in difficult polling conditions, over the ballot box of simple analog.

At this point is the “key” to the conclusions from yesterday’s developments, in which officials of the official opposition stood: The polls are useless!

The person in charge also stated it openly in a post on Facebook for the polls of the Poulantzas Institute in SYRIZA Costas Poulakis.

For knowledge and compliance.
ALL the polls for the KINAL elections gave Loverdos first.
Finally he is out of the 2nd round.
We wrote 20 days ago in the electoral tendencies of INP that it is wrong to conduct inquiries for internal party elections, mainly because we do not know the electorate.
Polls are a scientific tool that must remain scientific.
The conclusion is yours to make”.

For now, if anything study in Koumoundourou in relation to the outcome of the first round of the internal party elections in KINAL / PASOK, it is that their criticism that the polls do not reflect the real political correlations is “justified”.
