What does the Ministry answer? Of Immigration in the newspaper ‘Democracy’

In response to today’s article in the newspaper “Dimokratia” (p. 13), the Press Office of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum points out that the title and its content are misleading in terms of the substance and meaning of the statements, as well as distort reality.

More specifically, in yesterday’s TV interview on VERGINA TV, the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Mr. Voultepsi, made the following reports:

– “There was no agreement with Pakistan”: At this stage, there is a joint intention with Pakistan to start a technical dialogue to negotiate a possible agreement, which will be submitted to the Greek Parliament for ratification, as provided. with Pakistan has not existed, but this is something that has been repeatedly emphasized by the entire political leadership of the Ministry.

– “It will take a long time to reach an agreement with Pakistan”: The commitment to start discussions at a high administrative level to develop a framework for understanding and co-operation in the areas of illegal and legal immigration obviously takes a long time. negotiation period.

– “Such an agreement should include the return of illegal Pakistanis who are in Greece”: A possible agreement should cover the return of those who enter or reside in Greece illegally, as well as the systematic implementation of European return tools with a binding -but- character , just as it has been included in the Memorandum of Understanding with Bangladesh, which is, from the outset, a key goal in this negotiation.

Lately, “Democracy” has, unfortunately, chosen the path of misinformation, and today, it is trying to artificially present an alleged disagreement between Mr. Mitarakis and Ms. Voultepsi.

The obsessions of the newspaper – as the article is unsigned – are not allowed to be presented in the form of real news to the reading public. “We ask for tomorrow’s edition to rectify and restore the truth”, the Ministry concludes.
