The tariff flags of the electricity bill will have an increase from next Friday (1st). The readjustment will be 59.5% for the yellow flag, 63.7% for the red level 1 and 3.2% for the red level 2. The system of charging an additional fee, when the country faces difficulties in generating energy, was created in 2015 to pay for the use of more expensive thermal plants during a period of prolonged drought.
According to Aneel (National Electric Energy Agency), as the hydroelectric reservoirs are at high levels, the expectation is that the extra tariff will not be charged in the coming months. But the country’s energy costs are also under pressure from inflation and rising fuel prices. In São Paulo, the agency approved an average annual readjustment of 12% in the electricity bill.
In this episode of E Tem Mais, Carol Nogueira presents a balance of the factors that influence the cost of energy in Brazil and the value of tariff flags. To describe the scenario of the sector in the country and the expectations about the direction of the prices of the electricity bill, the president of Abrace (Brazilian Association of Large Industrial Energy Consumers and Free Consumers), Paulo Pedrosa, and the energy manager from the consultancy EY Brasil, Evandro Romanini.
