What is hidden in William and Harry’s family tree?

Living in the family home, Althorp Houseit means, for Earl Spencer (younger brother of Lady Diana) delve into his past every time he goes down to the cellar or sifts through the library. He and his wife Countess Spencer even launched a website, spencer1508.com and Charles often delights his social media followers by sharing glimpses of the archives by Althorp.

One of these manufactured goods find yourself it is a pencil drawing of the count’s father as a young man. The picture shows John Spencer (later 8th Earl Spencer) on horseback in the estate grounds. Charles captioned the picture: ‘My father riding his pony, ‘Bluebell’, in Althorp Park, 1934. Behind them, the Falconry, built in 1613 to entertain visitors to the house.’

Charles Spencer is the younger brother of Lady Diana, former Princess of Waleswhich means that the boy portrayed in the image would be the grandfather of princes William and Harry. The brothers were born in 1982 and 1984 respectively, over a decade before the eighth Earl’s death in 1992.

The tweets elicited enthusiastic comments from followers, one of whom commented: “I wonder how many children nowadays are able to draw like this”; while another added: «Thank you for your posts. You give us the opportunity to see a world that we would never know».

The final tidbit comes after Charles shared a black and white image of his grandfather as a child, elegantly dressed, with his brothers, for a party. Alongside the photo he wrote: ‘I love the family photographs I find here at Althorp. My grandfather (left), my great-aunt Lavinia (centre) and my great-uncle Cecil, ready to leave for a costume party in 1902».

One commenter called the photo «an incredible snapshot of another era», while another noted the resemblance between Albert Spencer, the future seventh Earl, and his descendants, stating: «I can recognize the similarity with William in the boy on the left. I love these old photos.”
