The International Food Safety Authorities Network (Infosan) released an international alert reporting an outbreak of Salmonella typhimurium in Kinder brand chocolates in mid-April.
The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) confirmed receipt of the statement on the 13th, noting that, according to the alert, Brazil is not included in the list of countries to which the product was distributed.
European authorities monitor cases of infection by the bacteria associated with the consumption of chocolates from the Ferrero company, manufactured in Belgium and distributed to different countries.

Prohibition of commercialization
Ferrero representatives in Brazil sent an official statement to Anvisa, in which they reported that Salmonella contamination took place at the factory located in Arlon, Belgium, and that operations at that factory had been suspended.
In the statement, the company states that it has started the collection of products manufactured in Belgium in all destination countries, and that the contamination does not affect products sold in Brazil.
On the 14th, Anvisa prohibited the commercialization, distribution, import and use of Kinder brand products, which are the target of international alert and collection. The measure applies to batches manufactured in Belgium by the Ferrero company.

The agency determined, on Wednesday (20), the collection of the lot L343R03 of the product Kinder Schoko-Bons White 200g, due to the risk of contamination by bacteria.
According to Anvisa, an import to the Brazilian market was identified, carried out by the company Terra Nova Trading, of the product manufactured in Arlon, Belgium. The measure concerns exclusively batch L343R03 and does not affect other products of the brand, according to the agency.
The National Health Surveillance System was activated so that the product is not found in stores, according to Anvisa. However, the agency recommends that consumers pay attention to reading the information on the labeling.
