At least nine people died and another was injured after a serious accident involving a truck and a van that occurred on Tuesday night, 13, on the BR-231 highway, near Km 446, near the Barrocão community in Minas Gerais.
According to the Fire Department, the occurrence was recorded around 9:30 pm. Teams from Montes Claros and Francisco Sá were called for service.
“At the scene, the teams came across two vehicles: a truck that was moving towards Bahia/Montes Claros and a van that was moving in the opposite direction and was in a difficult place to reach,” the firefighters said.
According to the occurrence, several victims were trapped in the hardware, and of the occupants of the van, nine died at the scene, eight adults and one child, and eight people were injured. Of the trailer occupants, two were injured.
All injured people received care, eight of them sent to hospitals of Francisco Sá and Montes Claros. The two occupants of the trailer were released as they were conscious and oriented.
The Federal Highway Police (PRF) worked in the occurrence to maintain safety and traffic control in the region. During the performance of rescue teams, traffic on the highway was suspended in both directions.
The Civil Police carried out the work of technical expertise. The causes of the accident are still being investigated.
