A bus with 45 passengers fell off a cliff in the city of União dos Palmares, in Alagoas, on Sunday afternoon (24). The accident left 17 people dead and another 28 injured.
According to firefighters, the incident was called around 3pm. Samu teams were also sent to the region known as “Serra da Barriga”, in the interior of the state.
At the scene of the accident, officers found the vehicle overturned on a cliff. The victims were rescued and taken to the State General Hospital, Metropolitan Hospital and Mata Regional Hospital.
According to the government of Alagoas, 21 Pediatric ICU beds and 3 ICU beds for adults were made available, in accordance with the recommendation of the medical team assisting the injured.

During the afternoon, the state government confirmed that 23 people had died in the accident. However, hours later, he corrected the death toll to 17. According to the agency, one of the fatal victims was taken to a hospital, but died during treatment.
