What is known about the death of the Mega-Sena winner

The Civil Police confirmed on Wednesday (14) the death of Jonas Lucas Alves Dias, who won R$ 47.1 million in Mega-Sena in 2020, and was missing.

The case was registered as extortion followed by death and is being investigated by the Hortolândia police station, with the support of Deic de Piracicaba.

The 55-year-old victim was found on the banks of the Bandeirantes highway, in Hortolândia, São Paulo. According to delegate Kléber Torquato Altale, the man showed signs of being beaten.

He was taken to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and died. His brother, 65, provided clarification and reported that Jonas Lucas had been missing for a day.

The victim had approximately R$20 thousand withdrawn from his bank account through bank transfers and via PIX. The Mega-Sena winner’s debit card was also taken by the suspects.

Exams at the Legal Medical Institute (IML) were requested. Diligences are continuing with a view to clarifying the facts and arresting those involved.
