A metal sphere about 1.5 meters in diameter washed up on a beach in the city of Hamamatsu, Japan, and authorities have yet to identify the object’s origin.
According to Japanese state media NHK, authorities have confirmed that the sphere poses no threat to the community, even though it is not yet known what it is.

Check out what information has been released so far about the mysterious sphere:
The object is about 1.5 meters in diameter, is made of metal and is visibly rusted.
The police were called by an individual who said that there was something like an explosive mine in the sand of Enshuhama beach. Upon arrival at the scene, the area was cordoned off and the bomb squad was called in.
After examining the object with x-ray equipment, it was possible to verify that the sphere is hollow and did not represent any type of danger or risk of explosion.
However, it was not possible to identify what the sphere is or where it came from.
Officials managing the site said the mysterious orb should be removed from the beach soon after no danger was found.
A man who frequently runs along Enshuhama beach told NHK that the object had been in the sand for about a month before police were called.
