«This is a study conducted between 1995 and 1996 by Professor Bargh's team. The group played a game to some students: create sentences starting from words apparently unrelated to each other. After finishing, the boys were asked to move down a long corridor to another room. In reality the experiment began at that moment, with the team timing the movement time without the students' knowledge.”
The results were very interesting. The students who were given words relating to old age, such as “tiredness”, “wrinkles” and Florida (US state destination for many pensioners), moved more slowly than those who had been asked to create sentences with words not linked to their advanced age.
Professor Tirelli, who in many years of activity has also worked with David Beckham and Alessandro Del Piero, is sure: Daniele De Rossi is doing well. «Every word has its impact, because it is the result of meanings, habits and/or beliefs. In work, as in life, we need to evaluate every single word we use. Personally, before speaking to an athlete, I gauge the terms to use. I have trained my mind for 25 years to do this. Even when criticism must be expressed, there are constructive ways to transform it into an opportunity.”
Daniele De Rossi used this example to tell the team that even if in this final part of the season there will be many commitments to face and there will be little time to rest, this objective fact could be a justification. In one sentence: It is forbidden to talk about tiredness, otherwise you will feel really tired.
