A 24-year-old woman who grew up in a cult Mormons under the authority of its now imprisoned leader revealed how her life changed after fleeing the fundamentalist group.
THE Ruby Steed grew up in the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS), which, according to what is reported by New York Postbroke away from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) more than a century ago and, in 2002, came under the control of Warren Jeffs.
Media attention and reporting on fundamental Mormonism has increased this year with its release movie “Under the Banner of Heaven”, starring Andrew Garfield, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sam Worthington. The miniseries, although based on fiction, is based on true story of the brutal murder of Brenda Lafferty and her baby Erica by her brothers-in-law Ron and Dan Lafferty as the couple sank deeper into fundamentalism.
