The European Council recognizes the European perspective of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia. The future of these countries and their citizens lies in the EU, according to the Summit conclusions on the requests of the three countries.

Finally, it is stated that each country’s progress towards the prospect of joining the European Union will depend on the fulfillment of the Copenhagen criteria, taking into account the EU’s ability to absorb new members.
