For more than twenty days Ilaria DeRosa, 23 years old, Italian hostess of the Lithuanian company Avion Express residing in Resana, in the province of Treviso, is under arrest. The hostess had disappeared from the radar on May 5, the date on which her family was no longer able to get in touch with her. After a report to the carabinieri, the official investigations were initiated following which confirmation of her arrest in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia between 2 and 3 May, had arrived. Here’s what we know so far about the arrest of Ilaria De Rosa.
The arrest
CCTV cameras filmed Ilaria leaving the Spectrums Residence with three men to get into a car. The news of the arrest was released only last Saturday. But the Italian authorities and the family had been aware of the detention since 8 May. Ilaria De Rosa is currently locked up in a prison 45 km from Jeddah.
The visit of the consul
The consul general of Italy in Jeddah Simone Petroni he visited the young hostess in prison on Monday, who, according to what has been learned, is in good condition, and the mandate was signed for local lawyers, advised by the consulate. It was possible to obtain the consular visit, according to reports, thanks to the excellent relations of Minister Antonio Tajani with the Saudi authorities and to the collaboration between the two embassies.
The family
The latest news gives Michele De Rosa, Ilaria’s father and Air Force officer serving in a NATO base in Belgium, arriving in Jeddah to closely follow the story. Ilaria’s mother, Marisa Boin, who lives in Veneto and her older sister Laura who lives in Brussels instead reiterated their concern and total conviction of the girl’s non-involvement in drug use. Stefano Bosa, hostess for the Lithuanian company Avion Express, also reiterated to the mayor of Resana, Ilaria is used to undergoing continuous drug tests, by profession she travels the world and knows the strict rules regarding the use of drugs in the Gulf countries .

The accused
The other positive news that emerges from the Farnesina concerns the charge. It would not be a question of drug trafficking as was initially assumed but of drug possession and use, in the specific case of a small amount of drugs, the Foreign Ministry said. Despite the strict rules of the country, a crime considered milder. Furthermore, the charge has not yet been formalized. And the Farnesina is leveraging this to bring the Treviso hostess back to Italy as soon as possible.
Mayor’s words
«Whoever enters our territory comes across the sign: Resana city of hope. I trust that it really is, and that Ilaria De Rosa will be released as soon as possible ». It is the mayor Stefano Bosa who holds the only line of communication between the community and the family of Ilaria De Rosa. «The family relies on the Farnesina and asks to tone it down. It is a delicate situation, everything possible is being done to bring Ilaria home as soon as possible ».
