About 190 thousand square meters of sports facilities, in a total area of 278 thousand square meters, will be constructed in the area of Elliniko. This is foreseen by the Environmental Impact Study for the sports facilities in Elliniko, the consultation of which is in progress, and envisages, among other things, the construction of Athletes Accommodation hostels (272 beds), Swimming Center with 3 swimming pools (one covered and two outdoor will have a capacity of 1,000 spectators), Indoor Instrument & Rhythmic Gymnastics Training Center, Instrument Academy, “Multiple” Training Center (Judo, Boxing, Fencing, Wrestling, Weightlifting, and Table Tennis, Indoor Tennis) a track and field building), a Professional Football facility with a locker room and a football administration building as well as three football pitches.
In addition, a Football Academy will be built with a Football Stadium as well as a Central Administration and Support Operations Building.
There is also a Basketball Academy that includes an indoor arena for performance & games and an additional 6 indoor workouts, a Tennis Academy (Tennis) which will include in the first phase 20 Tennis Courts that will be served by a Central Administration and Support Building. Following the completion of the proposed tram line, an additional 8 Tennis Courts, 4 outdoor beach volleyball courts and an administration / auxiliary building, 3 outdoor basketball courts and 1 outdoor tennis court will be added in the K-area.
The construction of the necessary infrastructure networks is also planned to support the project. The water supply of the project will be carried out by the network of EYDAP through a regulating tank in the NE of the Metropolitan Pole Elliniko – Ag Kosmas with the construction of a new water supply network, which after its construction will fall under the responsibility of EYDAP in terms of management, operation and its maintenance.
The main aim of the design of the project of the sports facilities within the scope of Elliniko is the adoption and implementation of principles and goals that serve international, European and national policies and strategies.

In particular, the creation of sports facilities in this area creates the conditions for the upgrade of the coastal front at the site of the former Hellinikon Airport, which today is still occupied by the facilities of the National Sports Center of Agios Kosmas Youth (EAKN). EAKN Agios Kosmas, created as a center of mass-popular sports exactly 60 years ago, was transformed into a Training Center with temporary facilities for the National Teams 20 years ago, in order to cover the needs of the 2004 Olympic Games. These facilities excluded a significant part of the coast
front in this position and their removal is required.
