What will be taught in the “Blue Homeland” course in Turkish schools

From the next school year, Turkish students will enrich their “national consciousness” with lessons on the EEZ, the continental shelf and territorial waters. Maps of the Blue Homeland will also be included in the textbooks to better explain the eastern Mediterranean, and the strategic importance of Cyprus for Turkey and the Turkish world. The incorporation of a foreign policy doctrine into Turkish education suggests a shift in approach towards a more nationalistic framework. Speaking to the nationalist newspaper Aydinlik, 3 retired rear admirals said: “Years of effort have paid off.
