What’s with the processor? Xiaomi introduced Poco C40 in Russia

Today, August 1, the Chinese company Xiaomi officially introduced its latest affordable smartphone called Poco C40 in Russia – the most pleasant thing about this news is that the device has already gone on sale (in black, turquoise and yellow colors), so there is no need to wait for the release have to. The novelty comes with the Android 11 operating system right out of the box with, of course, proprietary MIUI 13 firmware. In addition, the manufacturer equipped the gadget with a very impressive Dot Drop display (there is a small drop-shaped cutout for the front camera) with a diagonal of 6.71 inches with a resolution of 1650 × 720 points.

This screen is protected by tempered glass Corning Gorilla Glass, and a simple 5 megapixel front camera can be seen in the corresponding cutout. But the most interesting thing is under the hood of the smartphone – the manufacturer equipped the budget gadget with a processor called JR510, which was developed by JLQ Technology. This system-on-a-chip boasts eight processing cores – four of them operate at a clock frequency of 1.5 GHz, the remaining four are productive cores at a frequency of 2.0 GHz. This chip also boasts Mali-G52 graphics and a 4G LTE modem, but it’s certainly a rather odd processor choice.

In addition, the smartphone received two configurations – in the base, a potential buyer receives 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory, while in the top-end device it offers 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. There is also support for a microSD memory card slot, but even without it, the memory for a budget gadget is quite adequate. On the back of the smartphone, there is a simple camera system – the main one contains an image sensor of 13 megapixels, the secondary one acts as a depth sensor with a resolution of 2 megapixels. Of the pleasant bonuses, it is worth highlighting Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, a USB Type-C port and a 3.5 mm headphone output.

Of course, a budget smartphone cannot boast of fast charging, but there is an interesting point here too – the device was equipped with an impressive 6000 mAh battery, plus 18 W charging is included. This is a richer package than some flagships.

Now about the most important thing – the smartphone began to be sold today, August 1, and until August 7 inclusive, its price will be 9990 rubles. Starting from August 7, the manufacturer will raise the price (more precisely, cancel the discount of 2,000 rubles), so that the budget device will be sold for 11,990 rubles.
