WhatsApp for Windows will have an official chat, exchange of contacts and a tab with calls

Over the past few months, WhatsApp developers have been actively updating the messenger for mobile platforms. It seems that the service team has now decided to take on the WhatsApp application for Windows. According to WABetaInfo, several new features are currently in development.

The company is already testing the official chat, where users will receive information about the messenger’s new features and various useful tips. The web client as well as the desktop app were the only platforms where this chat was missing, but it is now available in WhatsApp Desktop beta. The official WhatsApp chat is end-to-end encrypted and read-only. Users can turn it off or block it if they don’t want to receive messages from the development team.

Now users of the WhatsApp desktop application (2.2247.2.0 beta) can exchange contacts. The corresponding option appeared in the context menu along with the ability to create polls and share files. Interlocutors can send contacts to each other to immediately add them to their address book. The ability to share contacts has only been made available to some users so far, the feature will be rolled out to more beta testers in the coming days.

Another innovation of the desktop application is the Calls tab. Apparently, the developers are testing a feature that will allow you to view your call history. This information is available in the contact card in Windows Beta 2.224.6.4.0.
