WhatsApp history is now migrated from iOS to Android. By cable and only on Android 12 😂

Google and Apple are committed to making it easier for users to switch from competing devices to branded gadgets. For example, earlier in Android 12 there was an option to transfer applications from the iPhone: just connect two smartphones by cable, and Android will automatically install the same applications from Google Play, as well as messages, photos, videos, contacts, calendars, and more. Now Google has worked closely with WhatsApp to provide the ability to transfer messenger chat history from iPhone to Android.

“All you need is a USB-C to Lightning cable to get started. Just plug in your phones, and when prompted when setting up a new Android device, scan the QR code on your iPhone to launch WhatsApp and transfer all your conversations, media and more to your new device, ”- from the official Google blog.

The company emphasizes that user data will remain secure throughout the entire transfer process, so no one can take possession of it. Also during this process, receiving new messages on the old device will be disabled.

Recall that in early September, the option to transfer chats from iPhone to Android appeared exclusively for Samsung smartphones (at the same time, the official Telegram channel ridiculed this innovation on Twitter, since the conversation history in it is seamlessly synchronized between all paired devices over the Internet). This feature is now available for the Pixel series and all gadgets running on Android 12 out of the box (it’s unclear if smartphones that upgrade from Android 11 to Android 12 will get this option).
