WhatsApp, how to activate the multi-device version

Awaited by many, the multi-device support of WhatsApp is finally available for all iOS and Android users: even if it is still one beta.

It has been talked about for months and now you can finally access WhatsApp from other devices even when the main phone is not actually connected to the Internet. So you can chat from four additional devices at the same time even when the cell phone battery runs out. In other words: you can send and receive messages from Whatsapp on your computer, even when the phone is turned off.

Per activate WhatsApp multi-device support just open the app and go to settings, then tap on Connected devices> Multi-device beta then Use the beta version. Finally, you need to tap on the blue button Connect a device ed scan the QR code shown on the additional device so that it is actually associated with our account.

However, at the moment the beta it cannot be used by tablets e it does not allow you to delete chats, view real-time location and create a broadcast list from additional devices o communicate with those who use an older version of the app: not surprisingly, the novelty is only usable by iOS and Android users who have downloaded the most recent version of WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business available in digital stores.

Furthermore, according to some advances published by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp could soon introduce the function Communities that would allow us to create a “group made up of groups” and therefore maxi conversations where to bring together several people linked by common interests: to cite a few examples, a company could exploit communities to send communications to employees of various departments already divided into groups or a school to create a single chat with pupils and teachers of the different classes.

Finally, we shouldn’t have much trouble distinguishing one community from normal profiles or groups since – according to the first rumors – they will probably be identifiable thanks to a new icon: square with rounded corners.

To date, however, we do not know when and if the novelty will actually be released, so all that remains is to wait for the next updates to find out the functions that will be introduced.
