More recently, the beta version of WhatsApp for Android introduced privacy-related features. Users have been given the ability to send images and videos in a way that the recipient cannot take a screenshot, copy, save, or share with someone else. Profile resource WABetaInfo found another interesting thing in the latest beta version of WhatsApp 2.22.25.20 for Android. It turns out that WhatsApp is testing sending one-time text messages.
If you look closely at the screenshot, you can see the lock icon on the send message button. This means that the text typed on the line will be sent and read only once. Once viewed, the message will disappear from the conversation, and a pop-up warning will appear when you try to open it again. It is worth noting that this feature is still under development, so the layout of the toast notification and the submit button itself may change.
View-once text messages can be useful when users share very important information and want to make sure it is deleted immediately after being read. In this case, you do not need to independently delete the message for all participants in the conversation (sometimes in a hurry you can delete it only for yourself, but leave it with the interlocutor). Just like viewing images and videos once, these text messages cannot be forwarded or copied.
The ability to send text messages for a one-time view will appear in a future update to the stable version of WhatsApp for Android. We hope soon.
