Earlier it became known that WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow you to share voice messages with individual users in the form of a status. Now this feature has appeared in the beta version of WhatsApp 2.23.2.8 for Android, which is already available to everyone on Google Play. Thus, the service introduced the so-called voice statuses into the messenger.
According to the WABetaInfo resource, users can share short voice messages in status instead of recording video or audio in chats with their interlocutors. Such messages have a time limit and cannot last more than 30 seconds. WhatsApp allows you to listen to the recording before publishing it as a status, and delete it if necessary. It is important to note that the latest version of WhatsApp is required to listen to such voice statuses.
Voice messages shared by users as a status are end-to-end encrypted. This ensures that only those contacts who are allowed in the privacy settings can listen to them. Voice memos automatically disappear after 24 hours, but users can delete them at any time. This feature will be available to a limited number of WhatsApp users in the first phase, but will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
