Facebook entrepreneur and founder Mark Zuckerberg announced during the event conversations, on Thursday (19), the WhatsApp Cloud API, a cloud hosting service provided by Meta.
The technology will allow any company to create standardized responses and cross-reference customer information free of charge. With this, according to the company, it will be possible to optimize time and create personalized experiences in the companies’ relationships with each client.
In the new technology, people, in turn, will have control over which companies they talk to, and companies won’t be able to message them unless they’ve opted in to being contacted.
Zuckerberg hopes that small and medium-sized businesses will want to use the cloud-based API, although they will continue to use the WhatsApp Business app – launched in 2018. The difference between the two systems is that the new technology will work entirely online, without companies need to download an application to their computer.
And to continue attracting businesses to the Business system, Zuckerberg announced a premium version of WhatsApp Business, which so far has no release date and price.
But the benefits for subscribers, according to the company, will be managing conversations on ten phones and having personalized ad links to in-app conversations.
WhatsApp has over 1 billion users connecting to a business account every week.
