The team at the popular messenger WhatsApp has begun testing a redesigned Picture-in-Picture mode.
The picture-in-picture mode itself has been available in WhatsApp since 2018. It is useful when someone posts a link to a video from YouTube, Instagram, or Facebook – the user can launch the video in a small pop-up window and continue chatting.
This feature has hardly changed over the years. And now, WhatsApp has finally updated it with a fresh test update – you can watch the new feature in the beta version of WhatsApp 2.21.22.3 for Android.
The innovation drew attention to the thematic resource WABetainfo. The redesigned Picture-in-Picture mode adds a new control panel to the player. It appears at the bottom of the video and contains controls such as pause / resume, full screen, and close buttons. Previously, these controls appeared directly on the video and often interfered with viewing.
