Despite its popularity and huge user base, WhatsApp still lags behind its competitors in terms of functionality. But there are indeed shifts in this direction, given how many changes and improvements have occurred in the messenger over the past year, even despite the absence of several important features. Now the developers are working on one of them, and it concerns pinning messages in chats.
Surprisingly, WhatsApp still doesn’t allow you to pin individual messages in a chat, but it looks like this shortcoming has finally been fixed in WhatsApp Business 2.23.3.17 beta for Android. According to the WABetaInfo resource, if a message is pinned and the user is using an older version of the app, they won’t see it. Instead, there will be a notification about the need to update the messenger to the latest version.
Pinning messages is far from a new feature in instant messengers. For example, in Telegram it has already existed for several years. Moreover, Telegram allows you to pin an infinite number of messages. However, WhatsApp is not the only messaging service where this feature is still not available. Signal does not have it either, where you can only pin individual chats in the conversation list.
There is not even a rough time frame for when this feature will be available to all WhatsApp users. Before it appears in the stable version of the application, it must first be tested on the beta channel.
