When do heating allowance applications start?

Of Prokopi Hatzinikolaou

Next week the online platform myHeating will open for the granting of the heating allowance. Today or tomorrow is expected the issuance of the last decision that will define the new increased income and property criteria, the beneficiaries and the schedule of granting the heating allowance for the season 2021-2022 and immediately after AADE will open the gates to accept applications from about 1 million households.

The applications according to the schedule should be submitted by November 30, while within the first ten days of December, the households that received the allowance last year will receive as an advance the amount paid to them for the 2020-2021 season. By December 30, the new beneficiaries of the heating allowance will receive the remaining amount of the allowance they are entitled to and will be paid.

Particularly:

– In the coming days, the portals of the electronic platform myHeating are expected to open for the submission of applications.

– The deadline for submission of applications by the beneficiaries expires on 30 November

– Until December 10, those who received the heating allowance last year will be paid in advance. About 700,000 households will receive in the first phase the heating allowance they received last year. By submitting the fuel purchase invoices, they will receive the remaining allowance until December 30, 2021.

– Until December 30, the new beneficiaries will receive the allowance, ie the households that will receive a heating allowance for the first time due to the expansion of income and property criteria.

This year’s heating allowance ranges from 100 to 750 euros and the amounts are increased by 36% for households without children, 49% for families with one child, 59% for those with two children and 68% for families with 3 children. The amount of the allowance for the 2021-2022 season will amount to a total of 168 million euros from 84 million euros last year and based on the new data, households should be aware of the following:

1. The heating allowance is granted for purchases of oil or gas or other heating fuels by the beneficiaries, as well as for the purchase of firewood or pellets by beneficiaries permanently residing in mountainous areas with a population of up to 2,500 inhabitants.

2. The basic allowance increased to 300 euros from 220 euros last year. The amount of the allowance that each household is entitled to results from the multiplication of the basic amount of 300 euros with the subsidy rate, 0.12 to 1.62 that has been determined for the settlement in which its main residence is located. The amount resulting from the above multiplication will be increased by 20% for each dependent child of the beneficiary. For example, for a beneficiary of the allowance who resides permanently in the Municipality of Athens, where the subsidy rate is 0.43, the allowance is as follows: 300 euros X 0.43 = 129. For each dependent child of this beneficiary the amount of 129 euros will be increased by 20%. Therefore, if he has 1 child the allowance will be set at 133 euros, if he has 2 children at 181 euros and so on. For a family in the Municipality of Thessaloniki, where the subsidy rate is 0.71 the allowance is as follows: 300 euros X 0.71 = 213. If the family has 1 child the allowance will be set at 255 euros, if there are 2 children the allowance rises to 299 euros and so on.

3. The minimum amount of the allowance is 100 euros and the maximum is 750 euros.

4. Beneficiaries of the heating allowance are:

– Single taxpayers or married widows or widowers who in the previous year had an annual total income of up to 14,000 euros and owned on January 1 of this year buildings and within the city plan plots with a total objective value of up to 180,000 euros.

– Married and cohabiting taxpayers who last year had an annual total family income of up to 20,000 euros and on January 1 of this year owned buildings and plots within the city plan with an objective value of up to 300,000 euros. The limits are increased for each dependent child by 3,000 euros. Thus the income limit increases to 23,000 euros for a family with one child, 26,000 euros for a family with two children, 29,000 euros for a family with three children.

5. The allowance will be granted to the beneficiaries, if they consume heating oil or natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas or firewood or biomass (pellets) for the heating needs of the properties they use as their main residence at the time of application, whether they are rented or free of charge. conceded or privately owned.

6. For the granting of heating allowance to the consumers of firewood and biomass (pellets), it is set as an additional condition that the main residence is located in a settlement with a population equal to or less than 2,500 inhabitants and the corresponding subsidy coefficient is equal to or greater than 0.8.
