When does Bill Gates estimate that the pandemic can end?

Microsoft billionaire co-founder Bill Gates has predicted when the pandemic could end. In particular, as he states in a series of tweets that he published on his personal account on December 21, he expresses his belief that if the right measures are taken, “the pandemic can end in 2022”.

At the same time, regarding the Omicron variant, he notes that “Omicron moves so fast that when it becomes dominant in a country, the wave there will last less than 3 months” and adds: “it is unknown what disease Omicron causes. “Even if we take it seriously until we learn more about it. Even if it is only halfway to Delta, it will be the worst wave we have ever seen, because it is so contagious.”

He also emphasizes the importance of measures such as the use of a mask and that the booster dose provides the best protection.

Details of what Bill Gates says in his Twitter posts:

Where it seemed that life would return to normal, we may be entering the worst part of the pandemic. Omicron will hit everyone’s home. My close friends have become infected with Omicron and I have canceled most of my holiday plans. Omicron is spreading faster than any virus in history. It will soon be in every country in the world. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. We need to take it seriously until we learn more about it. Even if it is only halfway across the Delta, it will be the worst wave we have seen so far because it is so contagious.

In the meantime, we should all take care of each other, especially the most vulnerable, whether they live next to us or in another country. This means wearing masks, avoiding large concentrations indoors and getting vaccinated. The booster dose provides the best protection. Vaccines are designed to prevent people from becoming seriously ill or dying and to do so effectively.

If there is good news, it is that Omicron is moving so fast that when it becomes dominant in a country, the wave there will last less than 3 months. These few months may be bad, but I still believe that if we take the right measures, the pandemic could end in 2022.

I know it’s frustrating to enter another festive season with the coronavirus in the spotlight. But it will not be like that forever. One day the pandemic will end, and the better we take care of each other, the sooner that time will come.
