With a trajectory of more than a decade, Thatta Kimura accumulates passage through notorious cocktail houses in São Paulo. attimo , Frank Bar and Gall are some of which the bartender and activist has made her mark.
It was in this last bar, located on the ground floor of the iconic Copan, that Thatta implemented a 100% female and LGBTQIA+ .
As part of her activism, the professional is part of the Coletivo Ada Coleman, which was founded in 2020 in the capital of São Paulo by women bartenders and created to be a support network for other women directly affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Covid-19 .
After years of experience in São Paulo, today the bartender is responsible for the letters of the Latin American bar Exquisito! and the recently opened Marola, self-titled as a caiçara bar – both houses are located in the Pinheiros neighborhood.
Outside of work, she also tries other flavors around the city and enjoys co-workers’ houses, especially those run by women. Below, check out Thatta’s favorite places to drink well in São Paulo:
Central Brewery
I like the Central Brewery because it is a very democratic place, both in terms of public attendance and in the value and quality of drinks and food. One detail is that the beers are produced right there, in a small factory in the back.
In addition to the house beers and beers from small producers, the establishment in the city center has a cocktail menu, which makes it easy to take people of different tastes there.
Rua Jesuíno Pascoal, 101 – Vila Buarque, São Paulo – SP / Opening hours: Tuesday to Thursday from 6:00 pm to 11:30 pm; Friday from 18:00 to 00:00; Saturday from 4pm to midnight and Sunday from 4pm to 9pm.
Bar Das
I always try to frequent spaces with women in the operation. It’s the of the is one of the coolest bars in town made by lesbian women for the female audience and has an excellent menu.
The house is in Vila Buarque and, among the orders, there are classic drinks, such as fitzgerald (R$24) and negroni (R$24). It’s worth keeping an eye out because the bar always has promotions, offering double doses of their cocktails.
Rua Fortunato, 133, Vila Buarque, São Paulo – SP / Opening hours: Wednesday to Friday from 6pm to 1am; Saturday from 5pm to 1am and Sunday from 5pm to 11pm.
snail
I think the snail a great place to have a cocktail and listen to good music. Among the drinks there is the dercy (R$ 22), considered the “hit of the house”, which has white cachaça, Brasilberg, honey and lemon.
Ingrid Shindo is a bartender and head of bar at Caracol, which is located in downtown São Paulo. She does an excellent job keeping the team coordinated to serve everyone.
Rua Jaguaribe, 76 – Vila Buarque, São Paulo – SP / Opening hours: Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 pm to midnight; Thursday and Friday from 7pm to 1am and Saturday from 5pm to 1am.
Gran Bar Bernacca

Although Itaim is not my favorite place in the city, having Ana Gumieri as head bartender of Gran Bar Bernacca is a guarantee of very well made drinks.
Bar of drinks, wines and snacks at Botegga Bernacca, the place always works with top quality ingredients.
Rua Amauri, 244 – Itaim Bibi, São Paulo – SP / Opening hours: Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 pm to midnight; Thursday and Friday from 7pm to 1am and Saturday from 6pm to 1am.
Brewery Trail

I love beer and I consider Trail a great brewery, even being in Perdizes, location out of the way for me.
The sommeliers who work there are wonderful and teach us a lot of interesting things about beer. The brewery produces small batches and serves them fresh, just a few steps from the tank.
Rua Apinajés, 137 – Perdizes, São Paulo – SP / Opening hours: Monday and Tuesday from 11 am to 10 pm; Wed and Thurs from 10 am to 10 pm; Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 11 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm.
