Where do chefs eat? With Giovanna Perrone and Rodrigo Aguiar, from Casa Rios

The combination of skills between a paulista and a carioca resulted in the Casa Rios, a restaurant in the east side of São Paulo whose research base is the southeast kitchen. Giovanna Perrone e Rodrigo Aguiar they are the couple who run the house in Tatuapé and who, together, put their love for each other and for gastronomy at the center of the table.

Giovanna left Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, at the age of 17 to study gastronomy in the big city and, right away, ended up falling in love with the profession. She was the first winner of the reality show “Top Chef Brasil” (TV Record) and had the opportunity to do an internship in two of the renowned French chef’s restaurants Alain Ducasse in Paris.

Also leaving the coast, but this time from the Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Aguiar is from Rio de Janeiro and moved to São Paulo when he was 9 years old. Unlike his partner, he studied administration before finding himself in cooking. With his love for gastronomy aroused, he spent time at the Hotel Botanique, in Jordan Fields, by Attimo, in Vila Nova Conceição, and by Bona, in Pinheiros.

Together, the two also command the kitchens of the Zoe Sandwich Shop and yes Piz.zoe Pizzaria. Outside their business, however, the couple try the flavors of other cuisines and share their favorite addresses in São Paulo:

Hirá Ramen Izakaya

Located in Fradique Coutinho, the Will hurt it’s one of the great places to order both ramen and other hot dishes – like a good izakaya. We’re ramen freaks, so we always order the miso.

The starters are also a highlight of the house. Our tips are eggplant, served with ginger, soy sauce and garlic; kimchi, which is the Korean-style chard; and the gyoza, which comes with pork with nira.

Wharf Restaurant

O Application it is located in a nice little house in the traditional bohemian neighborhood of Vila Madalena. The preparation at the restaurant is limited to the appreciation of seafood and fresh fish.

So, our suggestions are the fin or the fish fin when available, because, for us, it’s what the house serves best. Other orders without error are the grilled squid and the toasted mushrooms with cured yolk. A delight!

Fern Bar & Snacks

It’s a laid-back place with a vintage bar feel on the East Side of the city. The floor is made of hardwood, the tiles are white and there is a traditional counter with drinks shelves at the end.

the menu of fern is made of portions, appetizers, snacks and drinks. We recommend the pork belly: it’s sensational! Other items that we love are the jiló pastries and the fried alheira.

Shin-Zushi

O Shin-Zushi is one of the best Japanese restaurants in São Paulo. From the hands of chef Ken Mizumoto, delicious creations come out with very fresh fish, incredible combos and Japanese cuisine bowls.

Our tip – which applies to good, renowned Japanese restaurants – is to sit at the counter and choose the tasting menu. Best Experience Impossible!

Barú Seafood Restaurant

The list of what we like about Barú it’s great because we love everything! Trendy, it is run by chef Dagoberto Torres and is hidden away in the bustling Rua Augusta. The dishes are based on seafood and preparations influenced by various corners of Latin America.

Our suggestions are many, so try them all. We love the ceviches, the grilled squid and the picadito playero (indispensable!). The fried fish sandwich is sensational and the oysters are super fresh. To improve the experience, we ask for pisco sour to accompany.
