Where do chefs eat? With Marcelo Schomer, from Luce restaurant, in São Paulo

With modern Italian cuisine that revisits classic recipes from different regions of the boot country, the luce restaurant at Oscar Freire, has the chef Marcelo Schomer.

Currently also ahead of the expansion of the group, which from Jardins landed with a new unit at Shopping Higienópolis the professional has also worked as a cook at the restaurant at the sophisticated Emiliano hotel.

He was also one of those responsible for expanding the network Bar do Alemão in which he served as executive chef, and before that he had experiences beyond Brazil.

In Spain, he worked in restaurants Calima in Marbella, and in ABAC with three Michelin stars, located in Barcelona.

Out of his routine at the head of the team and the stoves, Marcelo appreciates different flavors in the capital of São Paulo and indicates below his favorite places to eat well in São Paulo:

Votre Brasserie

O Votre Brasserie presents classic French dishes as the basis of gastronomy.

All are excellent, but it’s hard not to try the Moules et frites (R$65). Do like a true Frenchman and always ask for a side of bread.

Rua Natingui, 1548, Vila Madalena – São Paulo – SP / WhatsApp: (11) 97428-3872 / Opening hours: Tuesday to Thursday, from 12h to 15h and from 19h to 23h; Friday, from 12:00 to 15:00 and from 19:00 to 00:00; Saturday, from 12:30 pm to midnight; Sunday, from 12:30 to 17:00. Not open on Mondays.

Color Gastronomy

For quality meat lovers, Cór Gastronomia is the place to go.

The restaurant does its own dry aging of the special cuts. From the house, my recommendations are the Dry Aged and the T-Bone (which vary between R$18 and R$28 per 100g).

Praça São Marcos, 825 – Alto de Pinheiros, São Paulo – SP / Tel.: (11) 3726-2908 / Opening hours: Monday from 12h to 15h; Tuesday to Thursday from 12:00 to 15:00 and from 18:00 to 23:00; Friday and Saturday from 12:00 to 00:00 and Sunday from 12:00 to 18:00.

Sainte Marie

It is an authentic Arab cuisine, one of the jewels of Arab gastronomy in São Paulo. Always present, the chef makes a point of going to all the tables, in addition to executing a cuisine based on flavor.

I recommend the Montado Kibbeh: it’s the right choice (R$108 for a large one and R$59.90 for a small one).

Rua Dom João Batista da Costa, 70 – Jardim Taboao, São Paulo – SP / Tel.: (11) 3501-7552/ Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm; Saturday until 7:30 pm; closed on sundays.

Peruvian AMA.ZO

I admire Peruvian cuisine because most chefs in the country master seafood, using different seasonings and ingredients.

From AMA.ZO, which has Peruvian chef Enrique Paredes in charge of the kitchen, I recommend the ceviches, which are my favorite dishes at the house (between R$69 and R$85; there is also a trio of ceviches for R$120, with catch of the day, shrimp and octopus).

Rua Guaianases, 1149 – Campos Elíseos, São Paulo – SP / Phone: (11) 99560-4321 / Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday from 12:00 to 15:30 and from 19:00 to 22:00; Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00 and from 19:00 to 22:00; closed on Saturdays until the end of December/22.

Ryo Gastronomy

ryo gastronomy

Awarded two Michelin stars, Ryo shows respect for product and technique.

It is a true gastronomic experience, definitive when the choice is Japanese food. From the house, I recommend the tasting menu, which is always surprising.

Restaurant temporarily closed for renovations. Rua Pedroso Alvarenga, 665 – Itaim Bibi, São Paulo – SP / WhatsApp: (11) 99338-2324
