Where do chefs eat? With Tatiana Bassi, from the Temple of Carne Marcos Bassi, in SP

Tatiana Bassi is the daughter of Marcos Bassi, one of the main names in gastronomy when it comes to meat. When her father passed away in 2013, Tatiana took over, alongside her mother and sister, the restaurant Temple of the Fleshin the São Paulo neighborhood of Bixiga, honoring the legacy he left.

For her, one of the most important things in her life was to accompany her father throughout life, as with him she learned “in practice the day-to-day negotiation with suppliers, the choice of high quality meats, the confrontation of problems that naturally take place, the best customer service, teaching how to make a good barbecue and being the leader of the restaurant team” – a team that, by the way, has been managed since the restaurant opened 42 years ago.

In 2016, the businesswoman innovated by creating the “Meet & Grill Tati Bassi”a meeting held twice a week in the restaurant’s VIP space for events, preparing a dinner for the participants to learn how to make a barbecue, showing the point of the ember, how to make sausage, farofa, Carreteiro rice, meats and even the dessert.

“In the beginning, it was aimed at women, because I wanted to break the taboo that barbecue is a subject only for men, but they also started to get interested and I ended up forming mixed groups. It was a success until the pandemic hit, when it was discontinued,” he says.

Today, Tatiana dedicates herself full-time to the restaurant, which continues with face-to-face service and delivery, marketing her products on social media, in addition to acting as an ambassador for barbecue accessories lines and participating in barbecue events across the country.

When she has time, she loves to go restaurants in Sao Paulo. Check your favorites:
