Where do chefs eat? With Victor Magri, from Motique, in São Paulo

The trajectory of the chef from São Paulo Victor Magri started in the city of São Paulo, where, after graduating in the area, he went through houses like La Cevicheria it’s the tian 🇧🇷

After gaining experience, he flew further: he packed his bags and left for Italy 🇧🇷

But the country of the boot seemed not to be enough. From European territory, the young professional, now 27 years old, landed in New Zealand and then on Belgium where the stops contributed to enrich their knowledge of flavors and stories.

Currently, Victor is chef-owner of Motique a house in Pinheiros opened this year that explores dishes from different nationalities.

Conceived by him and his wife, Charlotte DeCort who takes care of the salon, Motique is located in a nice big house with a veranda and brings many family references and the couple’s travels.

It is “food and drink for the curious”, as they call themselves. Outside of his kitchen, Victor also tries other different flavors around the city and shares his favorite restaurants for good meals in São Paulo below:

Hira Ramen Izakaya

the food of Hira Ramen Izakay a is extremely tasty, with appetizers and ramen as the protagonists of the menu.

In addition, the house at Fradique Coutinho has always very attentive service.

O Miss Saigon serves original and traditional vietnamese food with themed decor. The house is located in Pinheiros and was one of the first to open its doors with a focus on typical cuisine from the south of Vietnam in São Paulo.

Vietnamese spring rolls, green papaya salad and pho bo (rice noodles, filet mignon slices and spring onion with mixed vegetables) and pho ga (trice noodles, chicken strips and chives with a mix of vegetables) are part of the menu.

Sandwich shop dock

THE Dock It’s a really nice place in Itaim Bibi, in a small, friendly house with a strong identity.

They serve tasty snacks and go a little further with salads and desserts, such as cookies made daily. I confess that I eat lunch already thinking about the next one!

In my opinion, the donkey has the best burrito in São Paulo! The tortilla comes with generous fillings.

Furthermore, the chef Eduardo Ogre makes all the difference with your presence in the house.

Effendi sfiharia

THE Effendi it is already a classic in the center of São Paulo, where it has been serving Armenian cuisine since 1973 in Luz.

The food is cooked in a wood-fired oven and, without a doubt, the house has the best sfiha in town. Raw kibbeh, grape and cabbage leaf sarma and zucchini and eggplant dolma are on the menu, as well as delicious Arabic sweets.

Rua Dom Antônio de Melo, 77 – Luz, São Paulo – SP / Phone: (11) 3228-0295 / Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 3:30 pm; Sunday from 10 am to 2:30 pm.

Dô Japanese Cuisine

The restaurant prioritizes products without artificial substances or, as they say, that change the original flavor of what is served, such as cream cheese and mayonnaise.

Of the house, my praise goes to the very fresh fish and the rice for sushi, which is perfect.
