Which conflicts around the world can be included in Enem? Know what to study

The National High School Exam (Enem) will be held on the 5th and 12th of November across the country. In addition to traditional topics, such as the Second World War, it is common for candidates to encounter active conflicts in test questions, especially in Geography and Current Affairs questions.

A CNN He listened to teachers from some of the main institutions offering preparatory courses for Enem and entrance exams to find out which of these international clashes candidates should focus their studies on for the exam.

How to anticipate what will fall?

“Observing the recurrence in previous tests”, advises Bruno Queiroz, Geography teacher at Bernoulli High School.

He emphasizes that it is not possible to “predict” the questions, but observing questions from previous years of Enem and the Fuvest entrance exams (for the University of São Paulo) and the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) is a good way to prepare. .

Furthermore, in the specific case of global conflicts, the professor recommends paying attention to “those that have impacted the world’s geopolitics in the last decade”.

Israel vs Hamas

The Enem tests are already prepared and printed and, therefore, the terrorist attacks of October 7th and their consequences, despite their relevance, will not be included in them.

There was a consensus among the professors interviewed, however, that the conflict involving Israel, Hamas and Palestine, which has lasted more than 70 years, should be on the 2023 exam. The Arab-Israeli issue is, according to Bruno Queiroz, “ the most recurrent in Enem and in entrance exams”.

Geography and Current Affairs professor Tiago Santos Salgado, from Poliedro Curso, recalls that there is a “long tradition of disputes” involving the Palestinian territory. He advises candidates to “understand the historicity of the conflict to be able to analyze its moment”, and not focus on the most recent episodes.

Vera Lúcia Antunes, pedagogical coordinator of the Objective and Geography teacher, highlights that the Israel-Palestine relationship was in “at least four editions” of Enem and considers that conflicts with “consolidated facts”, as is the case, are the most common.
