Which energy projects and programs are seeking funding from Repower EU

Of Thanks to Floudopoulos

A number of new projects in the gas and electricity sectors are planned to be included in the revised National Recovery Plan that Greece will submit in early July in Brussels, seeking funding through REPower EU.

These are projects and investments that promote energy independence from Russia, as foreseen by the EU planning in the framework of REPower EU.

According to information, the Greek government has already compiled the list of proposed gas and electricity infrastructure that seeks to be financed by the new part of REPower EU in the Recovery Fund.

According to the same information, the projects that claim funding from REPower EU include the Greece-Egypt electricity interconnection, which is planned to import green energy that will be produced in Egypt to Europe through Greece.

The REPower EU also plans to include the photovoltaic program on roofs, which will help strengthen the energy autonomy of the electrical system.

With regard to gas projects, the new EU financing tool is planned to include the permanent solution for the installation of a floating station at the Revythousa terminal. This is the long-term solution that will follow after the 12-month FSU lease that has already been launched.

Also in the works of REPower EU is included the plan of construction of a second central pipeline in ESFA with a total length of 650 kilometers from Komotini to Elefsina, which will be ready to receive hydrogen.

In addition, the list includes the submarine gas storage in N. Kavala, with the aim of financing the first wave of investments that will be needed to convert the depleted field into a natural gas storage.

Finally, as the goal is to include projects that strengthen the role of the country as a gateway to energy, it is estimated that the list includes some of the new FSRUs that are planned to be installed in the country, such as the second terminal of Alexandroupolis, the terminal of Corinth and Thessaloniki. .
