White House: A Russian invasion of Ukraine could happen any day

His National Security Adviser White House Jake Sullivan announced today a Russian invasion of Ukraine could start any day and the US will continue to share intelligence with other countries in order to deprive Moscow of the opportunity to set up a surprise distraction operation to launch an attack.

Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union, Sullivan declined to say whether US intelligence Russia is considering an attack next Wednesday, according to some reports.

“We can not completely predict the day, but we have been saying for some time that we are close and an invasion could begin, a major military operation could be launched from Russia to Ukraine any day now. “That includes the week before the end of the Olympics,” Sullivan said.

For his part, however, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said today that he could not confirm the information that Russia plans to invade Ukraine on Wednesday.

“I am not in a position to confirm these reports,” Kirby told Fox News Sunday, adding that the United States believed “a major military operation could happen any day now.”
