The US today called on Vladimir Putin to “stop meddling” in the US presidential election after the Russian president said he was supporting, not without sarcasm, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. “The only people who are expected to determine who will be the next president of the United States are the American people, and we would greatly appreciate it if Mr. Putin would stop talking about our election and stop meddling,” said White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters. “Mr Putin needs to stop talking about our elections, period. It shouldn’t favor anyone one way or the other,” Kirby said.
