White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said there are no planned trips “at this time” for President Donald Trump to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, which may occur later this week.
Still, she did not rule out a trip to Rome to the funeral. “This doesn’t mean it won’t happen,” she said.
In 2005, US President George W. Bush attended Pope John Paul II funeral.
“We are praying for the millions of Christians around the world who loved the Pope and admired him,” Leavitt told reporters in the White House.
Francisco’s death was confirmed on the morning of Monday (21).
